The Crypt and the Importance of Meaning

As Guardia 2 moves full steam ahead—and hopefully, all the paperwork for my business gets finalized soon—I’ve been spending countless days switching between Blender, my ever-growing reference board in PureRef, and various tests and prints.

My Blender work screen (most of the time all grey, not colorful like this)

I've been reflecting deeply on this new adventure: it’s not just about producing good looking, functional miniatures; the word I’ve been seeking is Meaning.

There are many important and recurring themes that render all stories more valuable and touch the most intimate and precious parts of our lives. We deserve to have at least some of this world of meaning overflow into our RPG campaigns, allowing us not only to relive these deep and real emotions in the game, but also to understand and interact with them in new ways. I want to tap into the inspiring beauty of the great stories in our lives.

In Guardia 2, as I work on the Keep—the centerpiece of this campaign—I’ve been exploring some of the most fundamental parts of Guardia’s history. From the founding myths of this kingdom to the tombs of its founders, heroes, and martyrs, we’ll dive into the soul of Guardia’s past.

Today, I’m excited to share with you a sneak peek of the Crypt that lies beneath the Keep. Here, you’ll find the tombs of a few of the most important kings in Guardia’s history... and the key to understanding the plots that still entangle the Kingdom, even centuries after its foundation...

I’m also working on interchangeable pieces, for different stages of the campaign. This concept, which I’m calling evolving buildings, allows the structures to change as the main story progresses—or however you choose in your own campaigns.

Here Lies Alaric II, the Unifier

I’m pouring everything into making this my best campaign yet. Let me know what you think!
